Smart Electricity Meters

Original posting, July 2006

Installation charges

of about £200 payable by householders

has been suggested for smart electricity meters. 'Suggested', of course, means it will be at least that much, probably considerably more.

Another cash cow and something like £8 billion overall? Doubtless, only those who own their own homes and nobody else. Except those who will be exempted and guess who they could be.

And who profits?

foreign owned utility companies

meter manufacturers

Perhaps I'm wrong, but transparent government is all so predictable.
