Smoke And Smoking

Original posting, August 2006

Smoke inhaled from a house fire is lethal. It is involuntary.

Smoking a cigarette is by 'choice' (except passive smoking, of course) and is absolutely voluntary.

Both kill.

  • Cigarette smoking knocks off about 8 years of life on average.
  • A house fire kills very quickly (seconds)
  •  Smoking causes a lingering death (allegedly, but only if you're in denial, since smoking doesn't kill. In fact, smoking is regarded as improving the quality of the smoker's life)
  • Tobacco smoke contains over 8,400 known components [Examine the Table of Contents: over 1200 pages in 27 chapters describing the (Devil in the) detail].
