£2000 Tax Creates Carbon Neutrality
The Liberal Democrats are displaying their real attitude to 'facts' and their true sense of reality. The proposed levy of a ten-fold increase in vehicle excise duty set at £2000 is imagined to combat climate change. The justifiction being that the worst offending (polluting) cars will fade away. This logically means that only old cars will be included since modern cars are generally more 'carbon efficient' and so will by default all be excluded.
To switch to more environmentally friendly cars simply implies buying a new car and so helping the car industry. This avoids any lobbyist problems with 'arguing' against any challenge since there will not be a challenge. The proposal includes zero-carbon (!!!) vehicles and that they should attract no tax. (Wow, heady stuff - DA). No such car can exist, but if it did exist, there would be no tax payable.
However, this only involves the future and cannot be questioned regarding effectiveness. The vision shared by Bush: do nothing for the next +40 years (2050) while we all go to Hell and never come back. This is allegedly to be adopted as the party mantra = policy. This does show a timely, and naturally a purely theoretical, connection between Sir Menzies Cambell's resignation and the definite change in direction. Once a rising voice in politics, but now condemned to the lower realms. And so very predictable. The irony (and wickedly funny paradox - DA) is that there exists a true belief that by shooting off your foot enables you to run faster in the race. But since there is nobody going anywhere, (except backwards and downwards, of course - DA) there is no need for 'feet'. And the ridiculous catch-phrase of zero carbon emission does support the short-lived nuclear future philosophy (aka dogma in politics).
