Blair's Exit Strategy - Well, Maybe
Tony Blair will be remembered for helping to start the illegal (allegedly) war with Iraq, supporting his counterpart in the USA, George Bush, and so the whole of Europe, Britain especially, has been made a viable target for attack. Blair's exit strategy for this mess hasn't happened and this 'conflict' will continue into the future. As PM for Britain he has his own well-planned exit strategy from politics, but still interfering (he has suggested that Gordon Brown will follow his plans after he has eventually gone). This situation has become risible. Even after planning this for months, no doubt with much regard to the detail, he still can't go. Or just won't. It's as though he believes the entire country cannot do without him and now we have a situation where realistically no PM exists. Blair is wandering around the world, notably seeing Bush, and doubtless ensuring his future and personal 'exit strategy' are secure and his . Also he has, no doubt, also secured for himself a very good pension after making sure there are a lot of very badly off UQ (aka UK) pensioners. With his £3.6m bolt-hole.
And how can these people afford such a property on a PM's salary?
If it was me then questions would get asked as to how I could afford it!!! Questions like:
Where did the money come from?
Gordon Brown's raid of £100bn mustn't be forgotten either. PM elect. Give the guy a chance, I hear. No way. More of the same coming or worse. Even Cameron is sounding as though his spots are changing. No surprise there. Recall that talking in terms of millions is old-fashioned today. Billions sounds so much more pompous.
Typical to pass the buck, though. Mess up and clear off. Well, that's presumably the plan.
It's so surprising that he has made so many enemies yet cannot go. Has his wife not yet told him or are there yet a few more freebies on offer?
I'm being unkind perhaps?
Just go. Indecisiveness is a rotten trait. But now he is alone.
Is there a PM's graveyard (as in an elephant's graveyard)? What happened to John Major? Seemed to vanish without trace or is it just nobody's interested. I'm not, but I only speak for myself.Sir John Major
