NHS And The Bloodstains

At Princess Royal University Hospital in Orpington, a hospital run by the Bromley NHS trust, serious breaches of the hygiene code have been found. This brings into sharp relief the attempt to cover over issues by introducing apparent moves to demonstrate action. The Healthcare Commission has issued an 'improvement notice' after finding soiled commodes marked as clean and ready for use and bloodstains on a bed rail. And blood splashes on a wall behind a bed were of concern. Inspectors also found thick layers of dust in three wards showing that thorough cleaning routines were not being followed. The trust must now improve its ability to manage and prevent associated infections like MRSA and Clostridium difficile. A case of too little, too late. Anna Walker, the commission's chief executive:

"This is not acceptable to patients, who want to know that everything is being done to protect their safety and ensure a good standard of care."

There should never be a need to issue statements like these.

They are always demonstrative of absolute failure

Again.
