Executive pay is anathema to most people. Clearly, highly paid executives like each other since they are commonly involved in setting each other's pay (the game). Just about everyone else despises them. They won't and probably don't care since their lock-in to (their own) money is complete. As long as they get their reward, let the company fail. When it (the company) has gone there is always another 'hunt for the head' happening. It is peculiar that such a head hunt would search out the failures to 'head up' another (successful) business to ensure its demise.

The question must be "why are huge bonuses given to reward failure?" Executive pay should (in a logical world - DA) reflect performance. When a business goes 'belly-up' any 'normal' employee identified as being responsible would probably get the sack. CEOs don't get sacked, they get rewarded with an enormous bonus. This could be a definition for the word illogical.

Money in the conventional sense doesn't exist. It's Virtual Money. Business 'leaders' know this and it's a well kept (the worst kept - DA) 'secret'. If the truth actually got out (many wouldn't believe it anyway - DA) there would certainly be problems on a scale that would destroy the prospects of growth . The term growth is a very peculiar one as growth of one element ensures the decline of another. Inflation is the elephant in the room.

Inflation and growth are like a couple married to each other and it would be the messiest of divorces to attempt to separate them. The world economies would collapse overnight. 'Making money' or 'growing value' relies totally on confidence. Company shares reflect a company's worth and this can tumble in a heartbeat if confidence is shaken. While investors' funding (investors have the sole aim of increasing their own worth on the back of another's - the company share value) is critical for success, most probably couldn't give a damn what the company does as long as its share value increases. There is a profit from the investment. It's a very simple (cynical) principle (that has no principles - DA).

The 'secret' remains a 'secret'. But the BIG secret is getting smaller.

Inflation is measured by the Consumer Price Index or Retail Price Index. In reality whichever best fits a need will be chosen using the more in-less out principle. The CPI does not include council tax, mortgage interest repayments, house depreciation, buildings insurance, ground rent, solar PV (PV = photovoltaic) feed in tariffs and other house purchase costs (estate agent/conveyancing fees). As a consequence CPI is generally the lower of the two. The CPI is now used to up-rate state pensions and other benefits with effect from April 2011.

CPI, RPI and Pensions

In March 2009, the RPI decreased to below zero (negative), indicating an overall annual reduction in prices. The first time since 1960. But that was then. Now?

Inflation is 5.2% so the RPI means that more revenue moves in with less out. So it's the right time to change the calculation basis. More in and less out (hardly a surprise - DA).

With Student Loans it's all about more in... and more in.The CPI is lower than the RPI and unsurprisingly, pensions will be calculated based on the CPI as this will be less generous than using the RPI.

Similarly, student loan interest is based on the RPI. Currently this is described simply as the

rate of inflation + 3%

It is still there, but is not easy to find. See: Interest rates on loans. Currently, (13.12.2011) this rate is 5.2% and with the top-up reaches...

While studying the interest rate is that of inflation (RPI) + 3%. Before you have a chance to reduce the loan capital, the maximum interest is charged for every year of study - a minimum of three years at the maximum rate. After graduation:

Assuming (a flawed - DA) base of zero interest:

The addition of a variable (and totally unpredictable) amount of interest that is wholly dependent on the repayment rate (less paid back the greater the resulting monthly amortised interest renders it impossible to fix figures. But the amount will definitely be greater that those above for 'just' £27,000.

Even at around £70/month (£30,000/year) this will be for the full term of 30 years and this is unlikely to be a starting salary, but a career maximum. The outlook is a working career continuously (30 x 12 = 360 months) paying off the original never-ending debt.

Smoking In Cars

A search for smoking in cars reveals a fair amount of controversy.

Clearly, imposing a ban it is not likely to be any more productive than making the use of a hand-held mobile phone in a car illegal. This fails as policing the use is very limited in its effectiveness. In the event of an accident then an enquiry of phone records may provide enough information for a prosecution. However, the education route to make people aware of the harm to children in cars (who have no say - DA) is as unlikely since smokers in many cases don't give a damn. The good health of their own children is painfully a non-event rather like feeding them cheap fatty, low nutritional value junk food.

Fast driving is completely a non-thinking event for many (thankfully not all - DA). The consequences of damage to self and others is possibly just not appreciated. Head injury can be devastatingly acquired in a moment and remain for the rest of life and driving economics alone should make many more aware. A similar attitude exists concerning the use of alcohol. The grip of alcohol is strong and though the threat of death should be stronger, that grip overwhelms the very real threat of death.

The pathetic 'I won't be told what to do' attitude results in a middle finger salute to authority. It's pathetic because it seems that some people would rather suffer ill-health or death than the perceived 'bow to authority'. Exercising common sense and concern is not 'bowing to authority'. It's simply using common sense. And just being pragmatic.

So, smoking, eating fatty junk food and all washed down with alcohol. This 'holy' trinity of activities (like Gullibility, Stupidity and Vanity) is not a good idea. And some people still wonder why they get ill. Do all three... and probably have little or no exercise. To encourage these bad habits is to encourage spending on crap. It's commercialism. That's the reality.

Turner Contemptible Shuns Local Writers

Burying the hatchet is a laudable intention, but arrogance makes that impossible and so lives on the description:

The Turner Contemptible

The concept of creative art includes writing and a group of local writers inspired by Rodin's The Kiss produced some eclectic works. The Turner Contemptible summarily rejected any connection and a very curt refusal was issued in an extraordinarily dismissive e-mail. Such a refusal is, of course, the Turner's prerogative, but it would be more helpful if a properly argued response had been constructed (vide infra). No such argument was offered (and professionally communicated by a proper letter, not simply an e-mail! - DA].

"Thank you kindly for sending through your proposal, Kiss (For accuracy, this is Kissed Off - DA). We have now had the opportunity to discuss this in a programme meeting and we have decided that we will not be able to offer an exhibition based on this proposal. While the title of the show picks up on our current programme, referencing Rodin's The Kiss (1889) the content of the show does not seem to resonate with audience [sic] and aims of the organisation. I wish you the best of luck with the exhibition.

Formatting of the e-mail has been considerably improved for presentation here. There are standards to maintain, something the Turner organisation claims to have, yet doesn't itself demonstrate - DA

Whether anyone other than Hansi Momodu read the pieces is unknown, but taking the (presumed - DA) honesty contained in the reply at face value, it would have been simply a matter of courtesy to explain how 'the content of the show' fails to 'resonate with audience [sic]' when an audience has not seen (and therefore could not have been asked - DA) the exhibition of writing and what 'the aims of the organisation' actually are. In the interests of fostering relations between various (local) groups of the creative arts (publishing includes creative writing) sector and the Turner this is very disappointing as it was a terminally lost opportunity to enhance the Turner exhibition. That, after all, seemed to have been the reason for the TC gallery in the first place (raison d’être).

Accuracy demands that the term 'show' is replaced by 'literary exhibition'.

Over 60 visitors (unrelated to the IsleWriters) were recorded attending the Kissed-Off exhibition (elsewhere from the Turner, of course). Not in the league of visitors over several months (since 17.06.2011) to the Turner gallery, perhaps, but at least all the exhibits (24) were on view from start to finish (just a few days into early October). The age range of visitors was right across the board from young children to senior citizens and from the UK, (southern) Ireland and Belgium (that's an impressive international attendance record for a bunch of amateurs facing up to the highly-acclaimed Turner Contemptible. Can the 1000s claimed to have visited the TC actually be verified? - DA).

Notably, one visitor was made aware of Rodin's The Kiss exhibit at the Turner, but only after visiting the Kissed-Off exhibition. No effort had been made (by Hansi Momodu) to examine the finished works and so the comments made are clearly ill-founded (vide supra). It is only fair to say that one (newly appointed) director of the gallery did venture to read the exhibits. This does demonstrate genuine interest (or curiosity - DA). The display (laminated A1-size with large text font) was only envisioned to be mounted for a short while to complement Rodin's The Kiss exhibit and hardly to compete with it. It's even possible that some sort of permanence at the Turner was being requested and that Kissed Off was meant as a derogatory sleight at the Turner exhibit. Further examination of the 'proposal' would, therefore (presumably - DA), be deemed unnecessary, although a genuine consideration would clearly have shown more respect than was afforded to the IsleWriters.

It could even be imagined that the writing group was attempting to feed off Turner's (presumed - DA) glory. All are well off the mark. In fact, in the totally <- opposite direction to the aims of the IsleWriters (this must be insulting! DA). Rodin's The Kiss exhibit is nothing to do with the gallery and so the description of the Turner Contemptible lives on. This gallery is, after all, just a fancy studio (regarded by many, DA included, as nothing more than an expensive tin shed) in which to display it. Any other view could be interpreted as being somewhat pompous.

This simple link to the Turner Contemporary was totally ignored, though even this does not define these 'aims'. Politico-speak is a form of double-speak in order to talk-up an enterprise by saying very little about the subject.

Divine Comedy by Dante Alighieri: Dante's Inferno

Rodin's The Kiss depicts the lust and adultery between Francesca da Rimini and her brother-in-law Paolo Malatesta, both murdered by husband Gianciotto (Giovanni) Malatesta after their betrayal. Dante's epic poem is set in inferno (Italian for Hell) and is clearly about more than just a simple loving relationship. See Second Circle (Lust).

A limit to the highest legal speed for a particular road is not necessarily a safe speed. It is the maximum speed permissible. Philip Hammond (Transport Secretary) said the current limit (speed on roads - DA), introduced in 1965, was out of date due to "huge advances in safety and motoring technology". This is pandering to the car manufacturers and conveniently ignores protecting road users be they driver, passenger, pedal cyclist or pedestrian. Drivers 'controlling' cars capable of high speed include the inadequate driver who considers him/herself a Stig.

Talking up the improved safety in cars does not consider that reaction speed remains unchanged. The time available to react to a situation is reduced for a particular driver as the faster the car is travelling the further the vehicle will have moved before any avoiding reaction to the situation can be made. Reaction speed and time involves recognising a hazard and making a decision about the necessary action to be taken. If the wrong decision is made then it is unlikely that time will be available to correct the error. The higher the speed the less chance of corrective action. The inevitable is a negative outcome and possibly (probably - DA) a fatal one if travelling at 80mph or even ‘just’ 70mph. Seat belts aren’t particularly effective above 30mph or thereabouts.

A real advantage of a rear seat belt at survivable speed is restraining a human missile (child or adult) thrown forward in the event of rapid deceleration after collision impact.

Motor cyclists are excluded since they form a totally different argument. Of those who ride powerful motorcycles, many (probably the majority by far - DA) seem to imagine themselves exempted from laws that apply to everyone else. As an estimate of all RTA (road traffic accident), bikers amount to just 1% of road users, but account for 25% of those killed.

Statistics intended to describe the situation do not clarify reality. The apparent reduction in the number of fatalities (per billion vehicle miles) fails to consider that the number of road users over the same period increases. The logarithmic scale distorts the picture considerably. This is a similar distortion (though not erroneous) to the apparent violence of an earthquake. The Richter magnitude scale is logarithmic and an increase of a single unit is actually a x10 increase in the severity. A change or 5 -> 6 = x10 and 5 -> 7 = x100. Radiation exposure is also logarithmic (exponential). A danger with statistics for the unaware.

70 miles in 1 hour against 80 miles in 1 hour is simply an increase of 10 miles distance in the same 60 minutes. At the same speeds, a distance of 7 miles would take 6 minutes (360 seconds = 70mph) and 8 miles also 6 minutes (80mph). Put another way, the same 7 miles at the higher speed would take just over 300 seconds = 5 minutes. The journey would be shortened by 1 entire minute.

Hold ups (junctions, roundabouts, traffic lights) and other speed-affecting problems would easily neutralise this 1 minute

Advances in technology are claimed to have made cars much safer, contributing to a drop of more than 75% in the number of people killed on British roads since the 70mph limit was introduced. A drop of 75% may describe a 'reduction' in total numbers, but does not indicate the number of fatalities on British roads. As the number of 'users' increases, the 75% decrease is of an increasing quantity.

Green Party spokesperson Jenny Jones: "This is a mad idea just at the time we should be worrying about fuel economy and emissions. Putting the speed limit up will be worse for both. So much for the 'greenest government ever'." (Most backward and growth driven - DA)

Economical Driving

Hammond is the government champion of increased speed. Getting from A to B just a bit quicker. If this 'bit' is hundreds of miles away then travelling by plane can have true meaning (ignoring the pollution issue, the vast quantity of fuel used, travelling to an airport... - DA). If just a few miles away, then increased speed of travel does not 'quicken' the total journey by much.

Many complain about the rising cost of fuel. Many do not and make considered moves to reduce their costs The fall in petrol sales 'cost' the Treasury nearly £1bn over the six months to June. (It doesn't cost the Treasury anything as it's just revenue that never materialises - DA). Some of those who do complain are deluded and is evidenced by the uneconomical driving techniques. Racing around with hard acceleration of large-engined vehicles. The increased fuel consumption is enormous and the time savings negligible on short town journeys. Government loses out on tax revenue with the rise in numbers of careful drivers. This explains the requirement to 'sell' more petrol. It’s a vicious circle: the cost of fuel escalates so the number of economical drivers increases and tax revenue decreases as consumers are getting smart. But not smart enough. Government ensures fuel prices rise to compensate (they really do ‘influence‘ - DA).

The environment and conservation of global oil 'reserves' do not matter and is suggestive evidence that there is no actual long-term shortage. The growing air travel business also conflicts with both of these arguments. Just the continuing and self re-enforcing message that there is a shortage to justify rising costs for all.

There are some fascinating statistics put out by Jaguar for their XF saloons. All mixed up between the two extremes of models, from the cheapest diesel powered XF Saloon 2.2D SE (£30,950) to the most expensive XF Saloon 5.0 V8 SC XFR petrol engine model (£65,350). It's really about comparing what you get (or expect to get) for your money. Consider: 0 -> 60 mph in 8 seconds or 4.7 seconds. Although it appears to be roughly twice as fast to accelerate, actually the slower one takes just an additional 3.3 seconds. But it's £34,400 cheaper. Not really much of a speed advantage for such a huge cost overhead. But then the extra £34,400 enables a top speed of an additional 15mph (140mph -> 155mph). This works out at about a 10% maximum speed increase for the additional 110% purchase price for the performance advantages of almost double the standard acceleration 4.7s v 8.0s (0 -> 60mph). Moreover, town driving returns 15.1mpg (V8) against 42.8mpg for the 2.2D. Comparative out-of-town driving yields 32.4mpg and 58.9mpg, respectively. These are the official Jaguar figures even though they are extraordinary.

Rolls-Royce unveiled the £305,000 gas-guzzling British-built Phantom Drophead Coupe. Arguably the safest convertible in the world. With a kerb-weight of three tons, the massive 6.75 litre V12 engine will propel it from rest to 62mph in just 5.9 seconds. There is a claim that 17 miles to the gallon is achievable from this two-door four-seat convertible 'fast tank': 3 tons taken from 0 -> 62 in 5.9 seconds? More like 2-3mpg? Someone who can afford the RR in the first place is unlikely to be bothered by consumption figures. Exhaust emission would be vast. The six speed car develops 453 brake horse-power - about the same as five Ford Fiestas - though the top speed is being electronically limited to 149mph (why bother? - DA). Road wheels are claimed to run for 100 miles at 50mph when punctured - eliminating the need for a spare. A psychological trick: RR vehicles don't get punctures and don't need spares (you can imagine the salesman telling that one - DA!!). The problem is, of course, that the slow puncture carrying three tons won't be noticed until the tyre is dangerously flat.

an education in government economics

70mph -> 80mph = 14.28% increase in speed and the kinetic energy (caused by motion) is given by ½mv². The energy is related to the square of the speed and ½m(70 x 70) = 2450 and ½m(80 x 80) = 3200. The dimensions for mass and velocity cancel out leaving the comparison simply between 2450 and 3200 that represents a 30.6% increase. The increase in speed has more than a doubling of the corresponding collision energy. The impact on crash is much greater and consequently the survivability of the higher speed crash is much less.

Knife Crime

Knife crime? Forget trying to tackle it. The Tories pledged to be tough on crime: 7th July 2008. That's why they are walking away from the general issue. Prison - off drugs? It's where many begin their eventual addiction.

It has always appeared that 'talking up' ('talking the walk') by what is planned is enough. Actually enforcing ('walking the talk') the rhetoric just waits in the wings of government. Placing restrictions on buying a knife does nothing about other weapons. Any hardware outlet has some fearsome workman's tools that make a knife quite ordinary. Cutlery sets are an alternative. Anyone with a little creativity can find a 'knife'. Or screwdriver. If incapable of inflicting damage on another person without a weapon, tools will always provide a substitutes. So much for the Tories being tough on crime.

'Anecdotal' stories have filled newspapers ever afterwards. Almost every day another report of a knife attack makes the headlines: 5th September 2011, 7th September 2011...

Speed Cameras Become Counter-Productive
Speed Limit Increases

The attitude that no speed camera means no speed restriction has surpassed the lethal. Clearly, a conventional sign means nothing to many.

If there is no sign to indicate speed then this means 30mph. If there is a limit of 40mph or 50mph then such speed will be explicitly displayed. A declassified stretch of road will be either 60mph if single carriageway or 70mph if a dual carriageway or motorway. No sign defaults to 30mph. The MAXIMUM speed on British roads is 70mph. Simple.

Some drivers are possibly deluded by believing that since the car can go faster they are allowed to drive faster. Or probably just don't care. No camera and the chances of being caught are very, very low. The attitude of the gambler playing the odds. It has nothing to do with personal responsibility or self-control, but simply what can be got away with.

A car capable of high speed (not the driver - DA) is never sold with the brain that ought to go with it. But like many things in life, people often live outside the limits of their ability (and finances - DA). Try swimming in water at depth by holding a single breath. A trained free-diver will know their limit or death will quickly follow. An untrained diver would drown. Experience can be critical.

If there is no camera then it seems to be a case of:

'my time is more important that yours and
speed restrictions don't apply to me.

I will do as I please and sod everybody else'

Local knowledge also enables sudden (dangerous - DA) slowing or last minute identification of a bright-yellow camera (if not highly visible this can bizarrely be interpreted as entrapment - DA). Pathetic. And the law allows it. Even more pathetic. The rights of the 'speeder' appear to exceed those of the safe driver (staying legal seems perversely to be regarded as the attitude of a 'loser' - DA).

Those who drive fast may believe they can do as they please (they are the 'good drivers'), but such 'good drivers' have NO AWARENESS OR CONCERN for the hazards around them. The attitude of the moron. They also believe that they can stop quickly enough. Complete delusion. Also it makes no allowance for the fact that not everyone can react as quickly. Someone driving within their own limitations and at the limit of speed or slower.

A large and heavy car driven at speed will take longer to stop even if reaction speed is fast. It can never be fast enough.

Of those who ride powerful motorcycles, many (probably the majority by far - DA) seem to imagine themselves excluded from laws that apply to everyone else. As an estimate of all RTA (road traffic accident), bikers amount to just 1% of road users, but account for 25% of those killed.

A speed limit declares the maximum speed permissible and not necessarily the safe speed that depends on the conditions at the time. An experienced driver does not even need to consider the argument. Experience is unconscious. The inexperienced driver has no such knowledge. Or conscience.

Everything has gone very, very quiet concerning this potentially huge problem. The odour of some sort of hidden 'silent deal' is pungent. The application of interest is in itself acceptable in order to create a profit, but with a fixed amount of interest declared 'up front'. The difference in the 'western world' attitude is that the applied interest is a mercurial (volatile, erratic, unstable, flighty, fickle) target. Completely unfixed with excessive charging growing at an unreasonably high rate.

The student loan fiasco has possibly encountered a major snag. The grip on a generation of non-Islamic English students is not enough, but in terms of racial harmony this government has reached a potential impasse. To go head-to-head with the Islamic community (Muslims) as a whole in contravention of the fundamental principles of Sharia: the code of conduct or religious law of Islam.

The mechanism of usury can be illustrated by considering Credit Card Debt. A 'loan' is created, but the repayment increases over time. The Sharia concept is fair (a declared and unchanging profit at the beginning of the loan term), whereas the debt-based system involves a changing amount and rate of interest as the loan term progresses and is unfair, immoral and usury. As interest is regularly added, the loan amount increases. Amortisation adds more interest by charging interest on already applied interest.

The criticism of usury in Islam was well established during the lifetime of the Prophet Muhammad and reinforced by several of verses in the Qur'an dating back to around 600 AD. The original word used for usury in this text was Riba, which literally means “excess or addition”. This was accepted to refer directly to interest on loans so that, according to Islamic economists Choudhury and Malik (1992), by the time of Caliph Umar, the prohibition of interest was a well-established working principle integrated into the Islamic economic system. This interpretation of usury has not been universally accepted or applied in the Islamic world. A school of Islamic thought which emerged in the 19th Century, led by Sir Sayyed Ahmed Khan (1817 - 1898), argues for an interpretative differentiation between usury (consumptional lending) and interest (lending for commercial investment).

Islamic banking has the same purpose as conventional banking: to make money for the banking institution by lending out capital, but Islam forbids simply lending out money at interest (riba). Islamic rules on transactions (Fiqh al-Muamalat) have been created to avoid this problem. The basic technique is 'sharing of profit and loss', via terms such as profit sharing (Mudharabah), safekeeping (Wadiah), joint venture (Musharakah), the cost plus profit that is clearly understood and is required to be an "honest declaration of cost" (Murabahah), and leasing (Ijarah).

Adding extra interest to this profit (and amortisation) is where it all breaks down. An 'honest profit' does not involve pure greed by profiteering that by definition is unethical

It appears that the method might involve the Islamic bank paying the university 'up front', the student then repaying money to the bank and NOT the UK government

If such a student took out a personal loan with a lender then it would be necessary to pay back (explicitly) from day-1. Could the Islamic banking procedure defer payment in the same way as the 'nothing to pay up front' system apparently works? (No idea - DA)

If a low-paid job were taken that returns less than the threshold £21,000 a year then nothing is required to be paid back. If the career were to be a low-paid lifelong occupation then nothing would be paid back. Ever. The 30-year maximum. It would restrain the progression of the lower paid by encouraging staying under the threshold. This would discourage looking for a well-paid job. They are not generally available. The sword of Damocles. Those in a position of influence can always open doors for 'favourites'. Contacts are already established and the average 'joe' does not stand a chance when confronted with nepotism.

It could be that it has all been very well thought through and in principle the 'poor' graduate who cannot afford it, is in receipt of an expensive loan and paying for those who can. The wealthy don't pay and only the 'poor' do by way of interest on the debt. The definition of 'poor' is someone who needs a loan.

In an Islamic mortgage, the bank would buy from the seller, and re-sell it to the buyer at a profit instead of loaning the buyer money in order to purchase the item, while allowing the buyer to pay the bank in installments. The bank's profit cannot be made explicit and therefore there are no additional penalties for late payment. If the loan period is extended for any reason the initially declared profit will not change.

In order to protect itself against default, the bank asks for strict collateral. The goods or land is registered to the name of the buyer from the start of the transaction. This arrangement is called Murabahah. Another approach is EIjara wa EIqtina, which is similar to real estate leasing. Islamic banks handle loans for vehicles in a similar way (selling the vehicle at a higher-than-market price to the debtor and then retaining ownership of the vehicle until the loan is paid).

Islamic banking is restricted to accepted standards in transactions, which exclude those involving alcohol, pork, gambling, etc. The aim of this is to engage in only ethical investing and moral purchasing:

These are basically profit, profit, profit and little (nothing - DA) else. 'Growth' of something means the demise of something else.

It publicly begins: Tessa Jowell pontificates about rewarding looters by changing society to avoid disenfranchising youth from the future. This is typical of the old labour guard. And it suggests evidence of engineering a class change. It suggests that the riots were organised with the specific aim to effect subsequent change.

Does the doleful-look on Jowell's face attempt to evoke sympathy for a cause? That practiced look of concern?

The current government Label is no different than the previous one or potentially the next one. They all desire the same thing: control.

Ideological change is a disease.

The cure? The control of the people. It's a true sickness. Nothing more worthwhile than simply having 'control'. And all their money and that effects even more control. It's a vicious cycle and ensnares
everything. That's the idea unless immunity is given by belonging to a different (wealth) class. It's surprisingly simply in principle. In practice, it's even easier if enough soldiers exist and there's no great rush to a conclusion that is itself evolving. The slow change will terminate with a more complete (and permanent) solution.

The population continues to swell and in so doing increases the consumer base that will spend money in most cases acquired from the labours of those consumers. It's self-sustainable, perpetual and grows to support and finance the Parasite's Tree. The fruit that sustains it's growth. Riots In The UK (2011)

Whatever the reasons for these riots (probably opportunistic 'criminality' - DA) the rhetoric still describes what people want to hear and not real action. They also constitute a diversion and misdirection from the dreadful times unleashed upon the general public. Student loans and cuts, cuts, cuts. General lawlessness and protection of the financial bonanza (for government) as a result of the 2012 Olympic farce and the taxpayer underwrites the entire cost, of course.

Deputy prime minister Clegg pontificates about consequences and 'when you're found...' and 'the knock on the door...' ('in the middle of the night?' Overtones of Nazi Germany in the Second World War and the Gestapo - DA) and... the usual pandering to the public conscience. The action may come in some form, perhaps new law to enable the police to come down heavily on 'suspected' perpetrators of violence, theft and destruction. In a pseudo police state.

Allegations of police being present, but not intervening if true suggest the 'create the situation and provide the solution' scenario. Allow the riots to happen to then gain public support for the introduction of new laws to counter insurrection: an act or instance of rising in revolt, rebellion, or resistance against civil authority or an established government.

Buildings set alight with no concern as to whether premises were occupied (just assumed to be empty - DA). The very poor and disproved connection with Mark Duggan that was supposed to spark of the beginning with the Tottenham Fires is evidence of a non-connection. The (if proved) murder of three Asian men from Birmingham is further evidence that the death of the one is justification for the murder of others.

Comments have been made about suspected rioters and (by definition) arsonists even if covered up by masks and hoods in the attempt to prevent identification will be followed up by searches at an individual's address for clothing matching CCTV evidence will not move forward unless laws are changed and a police-state is created. The 'proof' of clothing is not 'proof' of the wearer. Very simple failure for any 'successful' prosecution.

It's important to recognise the fact that trying to fix something after it has broken tends to simply result in symptoms being attended to and not the cause. Shoring up a failed system that for the minority (wealthy) is working well. Problems generally deteriorate. Any genuine desire to correct the underlying cause(s) is not necessarily so obvious and may appear to be ignored. However, permanent solutions to genuine problems do take longer. The entire issue is mixed up with opportunistic 'criminality' and genuine failure to acknowledge a future. The rich are comfortable and do not care for anything other than protecting their wealth. The perceived sub-class of 'criminal' confuses those who have little and yet are not criminals with those who just want something for nothing. Steal and destroy. This is the real problem element in society and is probably a minority within the average 'class'. The violent creature that takes all is different to the human parasite who takes many not even realising what they truly are... parasites. Take all. Pay their taxes and justify being... a parasite.

The human that so lusts after animal 'food' without even thinking that an animal must be slaughtered so that the human can live is typical. The 'foody' programs on TV can be quite nauseating when the presenters so enjoy cooking the products of death. The very people who are the target viewers do not feel the pain as they simply buy the 'meat' and do not have to be involved with the actual killing. Many are pet lovers yet the hypocrisy and double standards are appalling.

Destruction as caused by the arsonist in the riots can never be justified. But even here there is duplicity: the looter and the arsonist. Two very different agendas within one apparent group. The looter does not require intelligence, but the arsonist/marauder needs some sort of intelligence (not of the brain power kind - DA), but information to select the target.The tree hidden in the forest can disguise and easily misdirect attention from the true perpetrator. Essentially, the identity of the individual actually responsible may remain unknown. The gang leader will sometimes be in the background while the lieutenants go about the bidding of their bosses.

Educationally, those who did not bother at school are now paying the price of their failure to learn. They have nothing and cannot lose or get anything. No education. No work. No money and so the things that many have (cars, houses, TVs, computers, employment and regular income... the list goes on and on) are out of reach where the future may lie. Yet they know they have no future. People make mistakes and one-day wake up to the mistakes made in life and hugely regret these now accepted mistakes. It is an assumption that most people can read. Many cannot because of poor education.

It's not always those from a deprived background. What catalyses a healthy background to degenerate into the pit of obscurity? Advantage does not come with intelligence.

Who failed these people: parents, education system? Government? Peer group pressure to fail? The (transient) top dog can be the one who can learn the least. Or nothing at all and disrupt everything so no-one else can learn either. The mindset of the true loser. They move on to possibly becoming the looter of the future as they have nothing to show for their earlier (moronic) life-style. But, mistakes can be recognised by that individual. Maybe it's too late, but with the right connections life chances can still be turned around. For some it is far too late and those bereft of any kind of intelligence and unhinged for whatever reason, future is very black.

Everybody with some sort of chance in life eventually wakes up. The descent into drugs and that sort of sordid and hopeless life-style can be arrested. The upswing to 'waking up' can be something good. Condemnation can so easily be made by the unthinking comfortable individual who 'has it all'. Most have to work at their own future, even though some have a platinum-plated background.

A horse can be led to water, but it cannot be forced to drink

When police cannot (or will not - DA) act when contacted by phone about known future personal attacks on people (including serious threats to young children) and property by known (to the police) violent people, then the future action by police is the rhetorically-inspired 'what people want to hear', but no action. A complaints procedure is theoretically enabled. Repeated emergency calls result in the failure for a (fast) response (if at all - DA). The right noises. Just the noises. Any suggestion of 'if you won't then I will' end with the warning of the possible prosecution of the caller if they take action themselves.

Because the police will not

When someone is seriously harmed or worse, then maybe someone will turn up. Maybe. Eventually. What people need is the demonstration of action. Having magistrates courts sitting all night is NOT evidence of action. Evidence should result in incarceration (but there are insufficient prisons - DA).

Cutting back on 'front-line' police levels by 500 officers from the Kent area alone of 2500 is a 20% downgrading of numbers. This highly 'front-page' newsworthy coverage distributes the information that the criminals want and need to hear.

And then problems elsewhere (London riots etc) cause drafting in front-line (?) officers.

Police drafted into London from (presumably) counties near Kent ( 2500 - 2000) will boost staffing levels from 6,000 officers in London to 16,000 officers.

The chances of getting caught and prosecuted are virtually nil when numbers are so depleted from an entire county.

Everybody 'knows' this much

Unless, of course, you are 'connected'. Got the ear of someone 'influential'. Wealth and intelligence (the virtually non-existent) ALWAYS GO TOGETHER!!! All poor people (majority) are stupid and all rich people (minority) are super-intelligent. If you haven't made lots of money, then you're stupid. 'Making money' is the marker by which intelligence is assessed.

The timing is to perfection. This will almost certainly be a prelude to the introduction of considerable new laws to protect London with the up-and-coming Olympic farce. Governments have choices, but the only option to choose is financial reward and growth. But growth of a population is not the growth needed or wanted. The growing population represents a growing consumer market. The equation has become unstable and has failed. The plan has gone terribly wrong. Or has it?

The elitist society will grow and thrive in times of unprecedented modern-day violence. But who orchestrates it? The overblown consumer population or government wanting to introduce Draconian law resulting in a very British The Patriot Act or the consequences of a The Reichstag Fire? This will continue to oppress the people by turning the screws even tighter. The Olympics are a farce since the £bns invested on behalf of the British taxpayer for the perceived enjoyment the masses for a couple of weeks in times of austerity and cuts, cuts, cuts... What it means is less out and more in. More what? Money. Money. Money. There cannot be continued growth without a growing population of consumers to pay for it. But the more people and more automation that does not require people for manufacturing consumables then - well here we are.

Set amongst all the mayhem are two items that stand out. The generosity of the mugged Malaysian victim and the outstanding and very dignified attitude of the father (Abdul Quddoos) of one of the killed Asian men. is a message of learning to all lesser (lowest - DA) human life-forms.

The section of youth that has made progress in life and looks forward to a university education/fun-time cannot escape either. The lock-in to debt should ensure the fun-time element is greatly restricted or it's going to be a long, long time living scraping by even assuming a good job results from the time spent at university. No guarantees except the knowledge of the debt . The wealthy won't have the debt so they can move ahead in life without restrictions. Good jobs do not always come from a personal application for work, but names put forward by influential 'friends'. It's an elitist future.

The entrance to tertiary education is usually by hard work. University is no different. It's not a holiday. And it's (now and forevermore) very expensive (up to £9000 a year). This will probably increase in a few years' time whatever the Label.

The nebulous concept of a New World Order continues to acquire substance.

The best place to hide a tree is in a forest. This describes a single element. If that tree were to have a single extensive and hidden root system and each sapling connected to that root system grew and matured in isolation within the forest, the forest would be infested with trees from the single source. And not noticed. Should those trees from a single root devastate all other living things then the only survivor would be the parasite.

The phoenix rises.

A simple and effectively bloodless way to create the global single new entity by destroying the old, and in the process acquiring all property, businesses, wealth and anything considered 'valuable'. Shares plummet and some of those businesses 'go to the wall'. This would be to perpetrate a massive sting and still nobody would notice that they have actually been 'stung'. The original forest would waste away to be replaced by the new growth.

The parasite is blindly stupid and has no vision. Unless, of course, that vision constitutes part of the 'sting'. Ultimately, the parasite will maintain a smaller host, but one that is sufficiently large to serve the parasite without draining too much in the way of resources. Currently, the out-of-control growth of the global population will be drastically curtailed. The population will be culled. And quite soon. A pandemic on a scale never seen before will wipe out vast sections of global societies. But where does it go and how can it develop into a larger and more successful parasite? An illusion is always manufactured.

The financial system has been described here as a total failure. Current global debt 'crisis' provides the growing evidence that supports this contention. The concept of Virtual Money explains how a growing debt can be financed by borrowing more money from... where?

There isn't any actual money

The redistribution principle also explains events. The USA is regarded (by whom? - DA) as the most advanced economic system in the world, yet the US Public Debt is currently:

and to prevent defaulting on repayments the Budget Control Act of 2011 was (quickly) 'introduced' to enable increased 'borrowing' and offset the US debt ceiling crisis.

How many Americans are aware of this? - DA

The US simply 'borrows' more virtual money to perform the trick of pushing the debt forwards and kicking it into the never-arriving future. The big debt of today is avoided, but the debt is bigger tomorrow as a direct result. The debt never gets paid since more finance is borrowed to technically get out of debt by obtaining more credit. It's what consumers do by paying off one credit card by borrowing on another. This is frowned upon by government, yet they hypocritically do it themselves. The taxpayer isn't asked if they agree to the increased size of the yoke that government spending has created. They are expected to pay for it through increased taxes to settle a non-existent (virtual) debt.

All governments are just different parts of the same beast, but just dressed up to only 'appear' different.

Who gets all the interest on the debt?
Why does (bad) debt get bought up?

Well, clearly there is no loan, but the taxpayer is charged for the virtual interest on the virtual (non-existent) loan. If money can be 'created' then this is how it's done. Finance isn't actually created, just the debt. The financial crisis can be regarded as a trick to introduce (and hide - DA) the apparent 'creation' of money.

Quantitative Easing

Debt-creation is inflationary and causes increased (invisible and totally virtual) interest on the debt.

The taxpayer never pays anything towards a debt mountain, of course, since there isn't one. The money is collected though through the imposition of taxes and cuts, cuts, cuts... it's all about control and fear. And the introduction of the 'necessary' cuts. And the chains. The device has been used before: the act of alleged external 'terrorism' to introduce measures that would otherwise be complete non-starters.

Any desirable state changes can be introduced on the back of 'terrorism'. But who is the terrorist? There is always someone to point a finger at, but in reality how can anything be verified? As usual, because government says so, it'll be believed (not here - DA).

The timing is to perfection. This will almost certainly be a prelude to the introduction of considerable new laws to protect London with the up-and-coming Olympic farce. Governments have choices, but the only option to choose is financial reward and growth. But growth of a population is not the growth needed or wanted. The growing population represents a growing consumer market. The equation has become unstable and has failed. The plan has gone terribly wrong. Or has it?

The elitist society will grow and thrive in times of unprecedented modern-day violence. But who orchestrates it? The overblown consumer population or government wanting to introduce Draconian law resulting in a very British The Patriot Act or the consequences of a The Reichstag Fire? This will continue to oppress the people by turning the screws even tighter. The Olympics are a farce since the £bns invested on behalf of the British taxpayer for the perceived enjoyment of the masses for a couple of weeks in times of austerity and cuts, cuts, cuts, . What it means is less out and more in. More what? Money. Money. Money. There cannot be continued growth without a growing population of consumers to pay for it. But the more people and more automation that does not require people for manufacturing consumables then - well here we are.

It happens with house prices. Up and up and... to a limit. Then they plateau, otherwise more would be living on the streets as property prices would be so high few who did not already have a property could afford to buy one. Many are still hostage to the debt cycle.

With the austerity cuts (manufactured or not - DA) consumers have more perceived needs than actual needs for a comfortable life-style and many are imposing a 'cut' back of their own as a result. The consumer market is dwindling so the population growth must be advanced.

Planet Earth swamped by
the growing parasite

Gluttony will destroy the planet. It's inevitable. Mix this up with individual competitiveness (selfishness) and the recipe just accelerates the end point towards destruction. Everyone dies: the paradoxical fact of life. It may well be just a bit sooner. Planet Earth will survive. That's also inevitable. Any trace of an earlier existence of 'human-type' life would be buried. Vegetation and trees would rapidly change the climate resulting in violent storms. Subduction would eventually remove surface traces of earlier life to be taken down into the cauldron of the mantle.

The choice was made a long time ago way back in history. And it's money. Screw the people in every way. Allow and actively encourage the consuming population to grow and grow and ...

True value doesn't change, but perceptions of value do. That Old Master painting bought and then sold for always more than originally purchased makes for a good investment. Someone will always buy it up as an investment. Capital gains tax could apply, but even if it does a high return would still be expected. The wealthy 'footballers' buy up mansions not to live in, but simply as a sound investment. Property (usually) appreciates in the longer term.

The Fukushima Daiishi disaster in Japan (11th March 2011) exemplifies the consequences of nuclear power and when things go wrong, they go terribly wrong. It has nothing to do with how resistant a plant may be to damage. It is the beast that is contained within. It is dreadful. The reactor should never have been sited where it was on a tectonic plate intersection, but regardless of the conspiracy of factors that caused the 'accident' (waiting to happen - DA) it was a monumental disaster the consequences of which will continue for literally 100's of millennia. The tsunami that preceded it was insignificant by comparison.

The public lecture of Dr. Helen Caldicott well-describes the situation. There is no exaggeration in what she describes.

When the emergency diesel generators, which are as large as a house, got destroyed by the tsunami, there was no way to keep the water circulating in the reactors. Also, on the roof of the reactors, not within the containment vessel, are cooling pools. Every year they remove about thirty tons of the most radioactive rods that you can possibly imagine. Each one is twelve feet long and half an inch thick. It gives out so much radiation, that if you stand next to it for a couple of minutes, you'll die. Not drop dead. Remember Litvinenko, the Russian, who got poisoned by polonium? You'll die like that, with your hair falling out, and bleeding with massive infection, like AIDS patients die.

And [the spent fuel rods] are thermally hot, so they have to be put in a big pool, and continually cooled. The pool has really no roof. There have been three hydrogen explosions, blowing off the roof of the building, not the containment vessel of the core, but the roof. And exposing the cooling pool. Two of the cooling pools are dry. They have no water in them. Meaning that the nuclear fuel rods are covered with a material called zirconium. When zirconium is exposed to air, it burns, it ignites. Two of the cooling pools at this moment are burning. In the cooling pools are many times, like 10 to 20 times more radiation than in each reactor core. In each reactor core is as much long-lived radiation as would be produced by a thousand Hiroshima-sized bombs. We are dealing with diabolical energy.

E=mc^2 is the energy that blows up nuclear bombs. Einstein said nuclear power is a 'hell of a way to boil water'. Because that is all nuclear power is used for, to boil water through the massive heat, turn it into steam, and turn a turbine which generates electricity. Now when you fission uranium, 200 new elements are formed, all of which are much more poisonous to the body than the original uranium. Although uranium is pretty poisonous. America used it in Fallujah, and in Baghdad. And in Fallujah, 80 per cent of the babies being born are grossly deformed. They're being born without brains, single eyes, no arms... The doctors have told the women to stop having babies. The incidence of childhood cancer has gone up about twelve times. This is genocide - it's a nuclear war being conducted in Iraq. The uranium that they're using lasts more than 4.5 billion years. So we're contaminating the cradle of civilization. "The coalition of the willing!"

In the nuclear power plants, however, there is a huge amount of radiation: two hundred elements. Some last seconds, some last millions of years. Radioactive iodine lasts six weeks, causes thyroid cancer. That's why people are saying, "Better take potassium iodide," because that blocks the thyroid uptake of radioactive iodine, which later can cause thyroid cancer.

In Chernobyl, over 20,000 people have developed thyroid cancer. They have their thyroids out, and they will die unless they take thyroid replacement every day, like a diabetic has to take insulin. Strontium-90 will get out, it lasts for 600 years. It goes to the bone, where it causes bone cancer or leukemia. Cesium lasts for 600 years - it's all over Europe. 40 per cent of Europe is still radioactive. Turkish food is extremely radioactive. Do not buy Turkish dried apricots, or Turkish hazelnuts.The Turks were so cross with the Russians, they sent all their radioactive tea over to Russia after Chernobyl. Forty per cent of Europe is still radioactive. Farms in Britain, their lambs are so full of cesium they can't sell them. Don’t eat European food.

But that's nothing compared to what's happening now. One of the most deadly [nuclear byproducts] is plutonium, named after Pluto, god of the underworld. One millionth of a gram, if you inhale it, would give you cancer. Hypothetically, one pound of plutonium if evenly distributed could give everyone on earth cancer. Each reactor has 250 kilograms of plutonium in it. You only need 2.5 kilograms to make an atomic bomb, because plutonium is what they make bombs with.

It's the probable reason that plutonium is used and not thorium for energy.

So any country that has a reactor, works with your uranium. You [Canada] are the biggest exporter of uranium in the world. Canada sells two things: it sells wheat for life, and uranium for death. Plutonium is going to get out and spread all over the northern hemisphere. It's already heading towards North America now. Radioactive iodine, plus strontium, plus cesium, plus tritium, and I could go on and* on and on. When it rains, downs come fallout, and it concentrates in food. If it gets into the sea, the algae concentrate it, hundreds of times. And the crustaceans concentrate it, hundreds of times. And then the little fish, then the big fish, then us.

Because we stand on the apex of the food chain. You can't taste these radioactive food elements, you can't see them, you can't smell them. They're silent. When you get them inside your body, you don't suddenly drop dead of cancer, it takes five to sixty years to get your cancer, and when you feel a lump in your breast, it doesn't say, "I was made by some strontium-90 in a piece of fish you ate twenty years ago."

All radiation is damaging. It's cumulative - each dose you get adds to your risk of getting cancer. The americium is more dangerous than plutonium - I could go on and on. Depends if it rains if you're going to get it or not. If it rains and the radiation comes down, don't grow food, and don't eat the food, and I mean don't eat it for 600 years. Radioactive waste from nuclear power is going to be buried, I hear, next to Lake Ontario. It's going to leak, last for millions of years, it's going to get into the water, and into the food chains. Radioactive waste will induce epidemics of cancer, leukemia, and genetic disease for the rest of time. This is the greatest public health hazard the world has ever witnessed, apart from the threat every day of nuclear war.

Einstein said "the splitting of the atom changed everything, save man's mode of thinking" - very profound - "and thus we drift toward unparalleled catastrophe." We are arrogant, we have a lot of hubris, and I think the reptilian mid-brain of some men's (and women's - DA) brains is pathological. We are in a situation where we have harnessed the energy of the sun. It is totally out of control. And there's simply nothing we can do about it.

Space Shuttle - The Final Flight

After 30 years and 135 missions the Space Shuttle was retired from service. An important function of the transport system was to build and develop the International Space Station. The ISS is an ongoing project and will now heavily rely on the Russians to service this international platform.

Co-operation is paramount and any Cold War or underlying problems must be absent by inference. An irony is that the conflict between the two countries initiated the Space Race from which the ISS was ultimately created. World events seem to have gone from conflict to co-operation. This is encouraging for a future of harmony.

It's why the land-based world events seem so peculiar and inexplicable.

The range of issues concerning the student loan affair is considerable. These particular issues will almost certainly be forgotten in years to come (but not here - DA).

On and on will this go... this single affair will become this government’s nastiest piece of work (so far - DA).

This nasty effort is totally illustrative of how (any) government seems to function. It is consistent enough to conclude that much. Whether Tories or Labour or Lib Dems are the active government or the official opposition makes no difference. The Murdoch fiasco, aka farce, makes for some timely misdirection and so it may well be played up to maximise the advantage.

The current nauseating and patronising 'buzz term' 'we are all in this together' is entirely inappropriate and an obvious (and very crude - DA) attempt at conditioning. We the people are 'in it' because that's where we've all been dumped.

Regarding the tuition fees débâcle it is not outside the imagination to propose that a deal had been reached before the last election. And concerning the need for a loan? Raise the level to force the need to take out a loan. How? Just raise the level artificially so requiring it.

Up the ante

Students from wealthy backgrounds don't need loans. There's nothing to repay so disallowing a simple payoff after graduation is a complete red herring. The result is lock-in to paying off the increasing debt from the addition of interest. For the creation of the elitist society it is critical to shackle the future graduates (the clever, but poor, represent potential competition to the advancement of the possibly not so bright wealthy - DA) by being chained to a lifetime of debt (student loan, mortgage...) so enabling the wealthy to race on ahead free of yokes. If a 'poor' individual can swim then place a heavy chain around their collective neck and drown them all. It's all about winning and if not by ability then by manufacturing advantage.

'Poor' = anyone from anything other than a 'wealthy' and advantaged background.

Hypocrisy

Whatever label 'won', student loans would be raised. The term 'raise' is absolutely disgusting. Revulsion and repugnance are words that don't even come close to describing this absolute betrayal of the future. It's all about money and nothing. ABSOLUTELY nothing else. Remember the control of finances ensures ABSOLUTE control. The increase from £3290 to £9000 corresponds to a jump of £5710 and provides that control.

Imagine if the basic rate of income tax or VAT or TV license or... were to be raised by anything close to this amount it would initiate a mass protest never before known in the UK. No government would ever dare (really? - DA). But students? Who cares? The secondary education system has been debased so much that the 'A-level' A* grade is an average and super A* grades are needed to be just above average. Anything less than an A grade is effectively regarded as worthless. It's not, but this is the betrayal simply to gain money.

The result: a very large number of A graders all vying to get into any university. So, just about all the universities wanted to charge the maximum £9000 annual fee and there would be no choice about value for money. There is none.

The possible smokescreen gets more dense. All the governmental rhetoric and 'pulling together' does not settle well. The party in power and the official opposition agreeing? There's something intrinsically sinister about that scenario. And that is what is happening.

The appearance before a Select Committee by Rupert Murdoch is claimed to be a day for feeling humble. The alleged apology to the family of Millie Dowler would have been a more believable act of contrition had he gone to see the family rather than they visiting him. After all, he can travel from Australia to London so 'that last mile' should not have been too much of an extra burden. Attempting to save the BSkyB deal seems to have been the priority.

It's all a sordid story about alleged corruption in high places and the alleged liaison between the press and police. The benefit of all this is the wake up call to those asleep and remaining totally unaware or not bothered by what has possibly been happening for a very long time. As the recent couple of weeks have revealed: there is a great deal of back-room dealing being done. So, what else has been happening?

Phone hacking is not a new concept, although the terminology may be quite new to public awareness. But it has all been made out to appear as such. This is possibly the damage control reaction to cover the technique of interception.

The 'powers that be' could be unnerved by the fact that these techniques have been publicly uncovered and that not everything is 'ridiculous'. The so-called truth papers have been the comics to entertain the people, pandering titillation to the masses. This has all become very much alive in the collective public mind. The real questions that should be asked are who else and for how long? 'Big Brother is watching you' has become very real to many. How could such a thing be happening.

Surely governments wouldn't do this?

Downbanding

Exploitation of a bad situation to gain advantage can be illustrated by downbanding. This approach is not a new concept, but just another shift in definition. A pay cut (negative promotion - a 'justified' demotion not caused by an employee's work record) or be made unemployed - sacked. The latest example appears to be Sainsbury's. A very profitable company yet expecting staff to accept a £0.00 wage increase.

Inflation incessantly increasing means staff are worse off by working for this company.

...it was "shameful" that King collected pay and bonuses of £3.24m last year... £6.71 an hour after 15 years of loyal service... no pay rise for two years, and we're facing no pay rises in the future... not really have enough money to live on... paid just 40p more than my daughter, who only started this year...what's that for loyalty?"

(Loyalty doesn't seem to fit the Sainsbury model and unsurprisingly, unemployment figures appear to be 'improving'. They will certainly be changing - DA).

Slavery

This also avoids the costly issue of redundancy. Staffing level reductions can go only so far before a business can no longer operate. This is an alternative approach to wealthy companies merging (taking over another company and its assets) and then trimming back any duplication of staff. Restructuring. As a cynical tactic this (smokescreen) enables a business to increase profitability and at the same time retain staff. If the concern is genuinely finding trading difficulties this also avoids the necessity to hire anew skilled staff who know their job. Retaining staff 'on the cheap'. Some employees can find new work elsewhere though most will probably find supreme difficulty in uprooting families with mortgages and young children at school. Doubtless many businesses are in difficulty and hence the exploitation by those only focused on increasing profitability.

This is another example of the problems happening as a result of over population and the failed concept (was never a success - DA) of 'money and growth'.

The older method was downsizing though this could restrict a business potential for 'growth'. A reduced level in the workforce.

The entire system stinks anyway. The UK is cutting everything, yet countries like Portugal, Spain, Greece and Ireland are receiving bail-out funds to prop up this totally failed system that is based on debt. The situation works in one way to theoretically 'raise' money through the future debt repayment. It seems clear that the UK is cutting so that more wealth is just moved to the already wealthy (so incredibly short-sighted, dumb and stupid - DA). Defaulting on payment can be 'avoided' by giving a further loan and so increasing the debt and the potential return by interest repayment: simply converting the serious problem into a catastrophe. This virtual wealth is the confused logic of the idiot. But...

It cannot be coincidence that inflation has allegedly taken a dip so that an interest hike will not be necessary. But raising the interest has to be inflationary... who are they trying to kid?

Want to see what smug looks like?

Such a system is unsustainable, but the 'wealthy' stand to lose so much of their perceived true wealth that any change is as likely as two (genuinely) males or two females conceiving a child with their same natural sex.

To imagine that any long term plan is within the wit and intelligence of mankind is difficult. At best it can be opportunistic tinkering with the single aim of being top dog.

Pathetic losers

The chase after longer life does not make any logical sense. It seems (conditioned - DA) that longer life should be regarded as some sort of competition. Any winner just dies anyway. Whether someone dies at 80, 90, 95, 100... cannot matter. The quality of life can be dire and the very gradual journey towards a natural death can foretell an extremely depressing existence. It does seem that the only purpose to continued existence (of any kind) is to wrest finance from these people. This could sound particularly macabre, but the living young can need as much care as the very old. Most in old age cannot contribute anything to the human condition. A growing elderly and less capable generation. And looked after by a growing generation of less capable young. Unemployment and benefits means less finance is entering the equation as the wealthy help the old and infirm to remove it. An entire generation that in a large part fails society, yet expects society to NOT fail them. The amount of finance being systematically removed far exceeds the amount added. Inevitably, society must collapse.

Once it has been bled dry

Younger people are in another (smaller - DA) part those who can recover from illness and still lead a purposeful and productive existence.

If an old person remains alert until death supervenes and doesn't just fade away then perhaps there is an argument for existence. This is very personal argument only answerable by the individual. Even so, being alive just to be alive serves no individual any purpose, especially if unaware of being alive. The paradoxical life-sentence while awaiting death. Sitting around waiting to die is a very depressing option.

It's interesting to speculate how attitudes would change if the concept of money and wealth didn't exist.

To be alive is to enjoy life. Too many end their own (otherwise healthy lives) since they see no purpose in continued existence.

Without exception, everybody WILL die. It's the prime certainty of life and there can be no doubt. The dead can have no concern about age and how long they existed. This can only be appreciated by the living. The dead individual remains dead.

Banking: Stitch-Up And Debt Shackle

Ringfencing retail banking.

Banking has conditioned people to associate the grotesque bonus culture with modern-day society. The average bank employee is unlikely to 'earn' anything like these figures communicated by the media. This itself suggests a deliberate action to mislead and confuse. The assumption is that these influential 'bankers' actually know what they are doing.

Retail banking and 'casino' banking (where the chancers speculate with others' money in their attempts to 'win' personal unearned wealth). Speculation places consumer finance at high risk. There have been many, many losers created by the risk takers (potential profitable 'wins') placing poor bets. Any amateur can play poker with someone else's money, but to gamble with your own? Different story completely. The institution itself feels safe since it cannot lose: when things shift downwards the taxpayer always comes to the rescue as an uninvited and otherwise unwelcome player. Just bring your money.

As soon as possible condition the young to debt and paying interest for nearly everything. Reduce pay (the minimum wage description is simply a con) and so with rising inflation ensure debt is the only way forward in order to survive.

Debt is a fiction since the original 'loan' is fictional (virtual wealth) and the interest on this fiction is used again to 'create' more debt. Technically, on paper the finance exists since existing loans have a return in principle: the theoretical payback. When the expected finance that has been used (virtually since it doesn't exist) fails to 'materialise' (defaulting on repayment), the reality is the state of financial affairs in Greece.

The apparent demise of Osama Bin Laden has been completely accepted. The evidence is highly suspect so out come the predictable Conspiracy Theory murmurings. It's classic and expected. The attempt to smear reasonable skepticism suggests that there is something to hide. To bury any questioning.

Why?

Usually, if someone has somehow had a connection in life with the sea, this is understandable. Bin Laden only has connections with the land. The obvious advantage to 'burying at sea' is that no body will ever be recovered. This presumes that there was a 'body' to 'bury'. And even if there was who can demonstrate that this was Osama Bin Laden? Now? It's not possible. Even destruction by fire may leave some evidence in DNA traces. So...

The cost of almost everything inexorably increases. Pay for gainful work nowadays fails to keep pace with rising costs (inflation). Yet raising interest rates can only make the situation worse. Fuelling inflation by making the cost of (private individual's) borrowing more expensive. Businesses can raise their prices to offset the consequences of inflation and this creates self-sustainability. Business can flourish by justifying price rises on costs. But add (just) a little extra and nobody will notice. It's like amortisation, add a little on top of the interest on a debt and the

small extra grows and grows and grows and...

Take in a lot (12 bites of the cherry every year in most cases) and paying out a little (once a year) avoids amortisation happening in reverse. Lenders cannot lose. It's why amortisation is such an insidious monster.

The people pay for the alleged deficit through raised (indirect) taxation. If VAT were a tax on 'luxury' consumer goods only, then any item purchased would attract the tax and this is the penalty of personal choice. When the scope extends to virtually everything and all services, it becomes an unavoidable (to most) tax. Consequently, the alleged 'deficit' and the ensuant 'justification' for raised taxes being an absolute necessity. Exercise the opportunity to increase control (of the majority) of people through their finances

Remember that this 'deficit' is only assumed to exist. Verification of the claim cannot be established so faith and trust in government are both absolute requirements.

The written word defaming an individual or making allegedly false claims (libel) can be tested in court. A slanderous (verbal) attack can similarly be examined in court and this procedure has been played out many times. Slander or libel is not always proven and counter lawsuits can then be taken out against the original accuser. It can get messy and expensive, but redress is possible when unsubstantiated claims are possibly made. Slander or libel has a contest arena. Court. Private slander if recorded or witnessed is probably sufficient for legal action to ensue.

It is totally illogical to expect protection when published on a public domain. The internet. The assumption that 'anything goes' is clearly wrong. The social networking provider can possibly argue no responsibility, since the content of posts (except possibly those blatantly accusing named individuals) cannot be reasonably and continually monitored and censured. The author of any post is completely responsible for all comments made in the posting.

The forum of the social networking site is not protected against slanderous or libelous claims. No such act can be legally made or excused. Slander or libel are slanderous and libelous if proven to be so. No protection should be available for anyone.

Even the device of parliamentary privilege is debatable. Accusations can be legally made 'in the house' (of Commons) and integrity and honesty are only implied. They are not necessarily examined.

Again, the cost of energy is to escalate. Up to around 19% for gas and 10% for electricity from the beginning of August. Just in time for the lucrative much higher-use cold-period. As usual, high use attracts the maximum financial yield. Minimal use (Spring and summer): no change. Government does nothing to investigate the justification of market costs being out of its control.

The very stale explanation from the 'industry' is the 'market costs'. It seems a very, very weak 'justification'. Consider the timing of global changes (except the UK, of course - DA) and local price rises. But since the increases are made by all the BIG SIX (in the UK) it must be the truth (of course it is! Is the current consumer/energy user already paying for the technologies (subsidising) by hugely inflated charges?

Pensioners have this (indirect) help, but that's it. The small amount of expenditure to finance this assistance is easily made up from the VAT (5% for energy) take from everybody who has to pay for it themselves. With an estimated 2.4m users (households) at around £750 or more for the winter period, this represents £90m in VAT alone. There is a much smaller number of pensioners (at £250 each). Any government would not interfere with its own feeding. The next expected move is to raise the VAT: 5% -> ? Very cynical. It's even more cynical when the VAT rate is recognised as only being a relatively small amount in lost taxation revenue: the lower rate of 5% compared to the current 20%.

When people start dying (not just older people - DA) the government will expectedly 'wring it hands together' and re-iterate that reducing the cost of gas and electricity is not possible for it to affect.

In times of an 'out-of-control' growth in global population (the consumer population) the timing of the destruction of natural foods has possibly been engineered (man-made). Europe appears to be at the forefront of a catastrophe. A 'natural disaster'. The financial consequences are dire across Europe, especially Spain. The original claim was that this country was responsible for the original outbreak, but it now appears that northern Germany is heavily implicated: all the casualties have been to northern Germany.

Germany has suspended any plans to promote the generation of nuclear power (essentially used to simply heat water to drive turbines) even though it will buy electricity from France that does generate electricity from nuclear power sources - DA.

The suspect produce concerns salads (tomatoes and cucumbers) and these are systematically being destroyed. Much salad produce is washed under water and then sealed in bags ready for use: human consumption. Only occasionally is the content rewashed. In fact, the bags of 'prepared' salad constituents state that the contents are ready for immediate use and explicitly fail to advise washing before consumption. It is logical to conclude that lettuce could be a suspected food-stuff.

The bacterium could be water-borne and the food itself might not be the cause, but it gives a justification for the destruction of naturally grown food.

This is possibly the method to force the introduction of GM foodstuffs. A growing consumer population and the destruction of natural food will promote engineered (doctored) produce. The effect of unknown genetic manipulation is so far ... unknown. It's all speculation.

Add to the ‘buried’ future on-costs, the clearly ‘up front’ cost of accommodation: between £3,500 and £4000. That a rise in tuition fees can even be considered is incredible. If council tax, or the license to watch propaganda on TV (fee), increased by 200%, then there would be class warfare on a scale that could lead to major civil unrest in England unknown in living memory. Historically, the initial outrage and furore eventually dies down, but when the majority has their daily pattern and routine forcibly changed the reaction to issues would not go away. 768. Not building on green belt land is euphemistically called 'protecting the environment'. It is more like protecting landowners from urbanisation and 'taking' the protected countryside. It's all owned by somebody from royalty downwards, but stopping before Joe Public (common man).

769. The concept of virtual money and its redistribution demonstrate evidence to claim that the financial crisis and the consequential austerity measures (cuts) are all engineered events. The objective is to move real wealth (based on gold) to the already wealthy and leave the fiction of virtual money to everyone else. Gold will not deteriorate/degrade/decompose and will last for a very, very long time. Essentially forever but all else will eventually disappear. Coinage (alloys) will not last for more than a few hundred years at best. The result is a division of the minority who have all the really ‘valuable’ metals and the majority who have the electronic virtual money that is absolutely worthless. It’s WWIII (literally on a global scale) without shedding of blood of the slaves. And it’s invisible. And billions are totally unaware of what’s happening.

770. Government taking fair 'share' of oil company profit. This does not face up to reducing the profit. The higher the profit allowed then the greater the government 'share'. Highly cynical.

771. USA pushes cost onto NATO to patrol no-fly zone (Libya).

772. Now is a good time to reveal the discovery of oil under the Sahara. Or just leave it all secret until a 'better time'. The instability across N. Africa is a requirement before the supply ownership can be officially redirected. Instability is exacerbated by arguments amongst those supposedly on the rebels' side. This is all being massaged and engineered. The entire scenario could be an invasion. Possibly await an outcome in Syria.

773. Jetlag is a very disturbing phenomenon. The cause is an unnaturally rapid change in the dark-light cycle duration. Summertime clock changes are a forced wrench: indirect jetlag-type effect.

774. More financial bailouts to prop up a totally discredited global financial system. Spend £$bns to sustain growth. Ludicrously engineered 'logic'. As a paradox, it cannot be more risable. 'Money' is moved around (redistributed) and is tantamount to theft by would-be stealth, but actually the complete opposite.

775. Tax coding errors? Maybe. But just the threat could support a simpler system? Maybe.

776. Children don't have a childhood anymore, but they are simply regarded as the future 'money makers'. That is, not to make money, but be the source from which money is to be made. Start learning the rules as early as possible and meet expectation targets. Free-learning is a longer and more enjoyable process whereas forced learning creates pressure and resentment, but a child is unaware of these consequences. Something enjoyable can become a lifelong affair. Forced and it is always a chore and will end as soon as possible.

778. Tuition fees: government continues to make great play of the delay before paying back the loans (£21,000). This admits that starting salaries are well below the alleged 'average salary' (the £26,000 is probably more like £15,000). The deferment of repayment increases the amount repayable and this is then like an interest only mortgage: huge interest over a very long term, currently up to 30 years. There is no guarantee that this will not in the future be extended. It almost certainly will be, just when? Every year a new crop of debtors will be made.

779. The BBC pronuciation of Fukushima is now a soft '...shima' ending from the hard '...sheema'. This attempts to divert attention from Hiroshima and alluding to the nuclear bomb in 1945. It's been done before: hard 'o' and 'i' in Hirosheema or Hiroshima (Hirroshimma). Crude.

780. The logic of keeping someone alive, yet condemning self to poverty and misery is perverse. But this is what people do when it comes to family. An old person with the modern consequences of age commonly suffers from dementia or Alzheimer's disease. This presupposes that the link is purely age and not caused by some form of modern pollution. The range of chemicals people are exposed to nowadays is enormous and growing. Radioactivity has been around for decades (1945: Hiroshima and Nagasaki. 1957: Windscale or 1986: Chernobyl). The quality of older life is concommitantly declining. The mental suffering of one partner causes psychological suffering in the other. It's odd that one partner does not have the 'dis-ease'. Financially, the cost is enormous running into several £100s a week. Shoring up of an old car is regarded as a poor idea, but when it comes to people, money is poured in to keeping the old-age sufferer alive, though in a non-aware state. The expense is great and the outcome is inevitable. We are born without our permission and also condemned to die needing others' assistance. To actively help is illegal. Suicide is illegal. The parasitical nature of human greed makes it a clear case of staying alive costs money. A living person has wealth amassed throughout a lifetime, but a dead person has no value. The money to be made from this approach is enormous. After death wealth is redistributed through inheritance after the 'taxman' has grabbed a cut. Before death, such wealth as it may be, is vulnerable to predators, especially governmental 'authority'.

781. How can raising interest rates control inflation and not accelerate it?

782. What qualifies a GP to oversee and be responsible for budgets within the NHS? Doctors are trained in medical matters. Accountants have knowledge of finance. But then, doctors (in the surgery) go where accountants do not.

783. 100s £m international aid, but a paltry £2m to assist humanitarian evacuation from Libya.

784. One person/one vote, first past the post (fptp) is rejection of voter if choice loses. The Alternative Vote (AV) at least carries the voter forward to still be counted.

785. A common phrase is 'not acceptable', but this means nothing and defines nothing. Nothing needs to be done.

786. The 'west' definition of democracy attempts to impose this ideal onto people. It's not welcome and it's undemocratic. Typical hypocrisy and perversity.

787. All the creeping interest in the sexual activities of 'celebs' can only be outdone by that of many, many others who are not 'famous'. It's part of human nature that sex is dominant. Without it there would be no human life. Who cares? Look to all other creatures.

788. Politicians' technique is to keep talking and so preventing interruption. Probable reason for repetition: cannot think of an answer to fill a potential silence where a question could be asked.

789. As population swells, oppression increases. The minority 'ruling' class is increasingly threatened by a growing 'ruled' class. Explains growing conflict. Logically, this will peak and so the growth in global population will be restrained. Power bases will shift territories. In the interim, the wealth required to pay for this comes from other nations.

790. Politics is all about the art of deception and persuasion and not about truth and honesty.

791. Austerity and financial 'crisis' are clearly manipulation of global wealth both real and virtual. Acquisition of gold-based 'real wealth' to the minority and virtual money (worthless) to everyone else. In any case value has no actual meaning, just a conditioned perception. Barter is a more realistic option and this shows that the NUT have not been duped by the 'austerity cuts' and (probable) manipulation could (possibly) be suspected.

792. $£9 for an unseen (telephone bid) possibly fake piece of pottery. It may be genuine, but a more careful examination would be expected. Suggests money laundering.

793. Politicians cannot be trusted to deliver on promises, so why should money markets? It appears to be a double standard: lie to the public, but not to the financial markets.

Super Injunctions

The simple response to sum up the concept of the super injunction (a device to prohibit the publication of the fact that an injunction exists) is that the arrogance of those who seek such a device defines the sordid little lives that they have. The belief that wealth (and perceived self-importance - DA) should confer the right to move amongst society as ‘untouchable and unaccountable‘ doing as they please as a product of this conceit.

Does anyone really want to know about these sordid ‘secrets‘? That of itself would be (yes, they do - DA) a sad indictment on the society from which they wish to protect themselves.

The most enlightening move in this pathetic affair is the alleged action by 'a footballer' to challenge the entire fiasco in court. This does appear to be a move possibly by the 'tabloids' and is simply exploiting 'the footballer' as the tool to expedite this action:

The excuse

Apparently the individual ('footballer') concerned has already been identified, yet this action (at high cost no doubt - DA) is still to proceed. The gain for 'the footballer' is quite unclear. There seems to be little to protect and the irony is that 'the footballer' cannot be named by the press and so the details cannot be known about who is actually taking this action (does anybody really care? - DA). The anonymity of the 'tabloid press' is indirectly maintained. All that is known is the identity of the woman involved. Name and photos splashed across front pages in the complete double standard of the entire (nasty) business. Protect the 'honour' of 'the footballer' at the expense of a (female) pawn.

It seems that the press (possibly - DA) could be challenging the severe restriction to press freedoms. The only gainers are the lawyers. Again.

The Open University has announced annual tuition fees of £5000 for students starting full-time study next year (2012). Still less than the 'average', but disappointingly it appears to be jumping on the loan train. It has blamed the increase on government 'reforms of university funding' (don't they all? - DA), but said that it is the lowest it could manage.

"The fee we've announced is the result of thorough research and is the lowest fee we are able to charge while ensuring we can continue to offer the quality, flexibility and accessibility for which the OU is renowned. Our scale and the way we teach mean we continue to be able to offer some recognised qualifications at a significantly more cost effective rate than you'd pay elsewhere."

As expected, a growing number of school leavers are opting for the OU rather than the conventional route. Some are, in fact, declining the original choice before results were obtained in favour of the OU. The reason? Cost: 3 x £5000 = £15,000 vs 3 x £9000 = £27,000 (all before interest). The OU also does not incur accommodation costs and at around half the outlay, this is still vastly cheaper. The alternative huge and potentially crippling outlay that as a debt must be serviced (many have seen through the government rhetoric of 'nothing to pay up front' ) has the enormous tide of debt following (cloaked - DA) from behind.

With all the evermore depressing double-talked-up rhetoric about tertiary education costing around £25,000 - £27,000 over 3 years, the Open University (OU) offers a welcome option. And a great deal of choice. From school leaver to a more mature parent.

The OU has been in existence since January 1971 and should be given serious consideration. The website is comprehensive and offers serious competition to the ‘mainline’ and very expensive alternatives.

The government ‘sponsored’ system of tertiary education is to capitalise on the profit potential. It appears to be totally disinterested in the student (undergraduate or postgraduate) and only concerned with the interest yield on the loan that could take at least 30 years to maybe only partially pay off.

I have no personal interest in all this other than to assist others to maybe avoid the potential trap laid down by the (‘caring’) government. The series may be (hopefully) terribly wrong or only partially correct. It is up to the reader to decide for themselves.

Fundamentals

The National Scholarship Programme (NSP) will be available to benefit students entering higher education from autumn 2012

Government contribution to the National Scholarship fund will be £50m in financial year 2012-13, £100m in 2013-14 and £150m from 2014-15 (as at April 2011 - DA)

2012/13 is the first year and the arrangements will be reviewed and amended in light of experience and feedback (ie: move the goal posts after the game has begun - DA) to support full implementation of the Programme in 2014/15 (as at April 2011 - DA)

Provisional allocations to institutions for 2012/13 will be announced by HEFCE by early March 2011, based on size of institution, to meet wide scheme objectives

NSP is open only to English institutions in receipt of direct funding from HEFCE

Institutions will be responsible for making individual awards to students and will publicise their NSP award schemes on their websites

UCAS will provide a portal on their website linking to each institution’s NSP scheme

Guidance for institutions on the operation of the Programme will be developed by HEFCE, working with OFFA and BIS and subject to ministerial agreement

NSP allocations and Programme outcomes will be managed and reported through the Widening Participation Strategic Assessment with links to the Access Agreement where present

HEIs (Higher Education Institutions) will be asked to supply appropriate data to help monitor the effectiveness of targeting the awards

NSP is a direct benefit to the individual

NSP will provide a direct benefit to individual, eligible students.

Each eligible student will receive a benefit of not less than £3,000 (FT = full time and pro rata PT = part time to a minimum intensity of 25%). This is a one-year benefit, not a recurrent, annual entitlement.

What happens if the student withdraws from the course after the 1st year?
Does it become repayable?
No more than £1,000 of the overall NSP award is to be provided as a cash bursary

NSP is not to be used to fund outreach programmes, which universities will continue to fund through alternative means (? - DA)

Institutions may offer one or more of the following:

a fee waiver or discount
a free foundation year where leading to progression to a professional career via a course with high entry requirements
discounted accommodation or other similar institutional service
a financial scholarship/bursary – capped as a cash award at £1,000

Student eligibility for NSP awards

No one with a declared income over £25k (eligibility for a full grant) will be eligible, but receipt of a full grant does not represent an entitlement to NSP

Institutions will decide their own detailed eligibility criteria, based on targeting guidance and their own circumstances

Eligibility criteria must be clear, transparent and published on the HEI's website

Students will be considered for an award in the year they begin their studies

Match funding by institutions in first year 2012/13

For this first year, OFFA will have discretion over the match funding level it requires through the Access Agreement. This will mean OFFA can use its discretion in 2012 to reduce the match funding level within the overall access investment totals. This discretion should be used only to avoid unintended consequences, that is where the match funding pressures on the individual HEI are very high and the effect would be that they cannot invest effectively in outreach activities

The starting assumption should be a match funding expectation at 1:1 for any institution with an Access Agreement

Institutions without an Access Agreement who wish to take part will have a reduced match funding requirement (50% for the first year). HEFCE will apply the same discretion on match funding, as above, if appropriate

Institutions may decide to match fund by increasing the number of eligible beneficiaries or increasing the value of individual awards (above £3,000)

Evaluation and future development

HEFCE and OFFA will develop an evaluation strategy and review method to help inform the design of the full programme

The future scheme will prioritise:

1. Increased student choice

2. Improved and earlier signalling of individual eligibility

3. Improved integration and signposting through outreach
